Ergonomics

Dental surgery requires a high level of concentration and precision. Unnatural postures, repetitive hand gestures and persistent movements of the hand/wrist can cause musculoskeletal disorders among practitioners. They can often spend most of their day in uncomfortable static positions; this is where pain and injury can occur. It is therefore essential that dentists take into account the ergonomics of their workstations prior to designing and equipping their practice. The ergonomics of a practice can also improve the surgeon’s efficiency and profitability along with their image and the patient’s comfort.

The importance of ergonomic organisation in medical practice:
– Operator comfort
– Operator health protection
– Work efficiency
– Insurance of optimising the therapeutic procedure
– Professional success
– Financial benefit

Ergonomic parameters in the workspace:
– The light
– The colour
– The noise
– The temperature
– Artificial backup lighting
